Baptism Services
Baptism is the symbol of entry into the christian church. It can happen at any age. We, at St. Bart's, have the privelige to conduct about 50 baptisms every year. They are held on Sunday afternoons and are done in a friendly relaxed and yet meaningful manner.
We also have baptisms at St. Anne's church. They happen as part of the all age service at 11.45am on the first and third sundays each month.
If you are new to visiting the church, we would welcome baptising your child, don't worry if you're unsure about what it all entails, just come along to the parish office on a tuesday evening or give us a call.
Families come to St. Bart's wanting to baptise their children for many different reasons. Prehaps some of the more honest reasons are...
"My mum and Dad said we should do it" or "I thought you had to" and "its a good excuse for a party!"
Many of us have been in that situation and those reasons are as good as any!
However, there is one more element you can do to make the day of your childs Christening extra special, and that is to know what it is to be a christian.
Many of us call ourselves christian because we have been baptised and confirmed but not having gone to church or gone to a church school it leaves us lacking in the knowledge of what it is to be a christian.
During the baptism service, you and the godparents make some very profound statements and promises to bring your child up in the Christian faith. Are you prepared to make that commitment?
You have come to this church to give your child the very best start in life, and you can continue to do this by simply attending a "Start!" course and finding out about God, Jesus and the Holy spirit. The four week course aims to give you the basics of christianity and there by providing the tools to bring up your child knowing God and having a full, satisfying, happy life.
There is a common saying, "The family that prays together, stays together." do the most for your family, learn about God.
The Start course is FREE, Optional, Fun and Informative. There is no essays or homework! Bring some friends/family or even better the Godparents Click here for more info.
If you would like to book a baptism then please come to the parish office on a Tuesday evening between 6 and 7pm.
