29th March - Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday 7:30pm St Bart's Holy Communion- Maundy Thursday is also called Holy Thursday. It is the feast or holy day on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper where Jesus Christ ate with the Apostles. Before the Supper, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and by performing this lowly act of service, Jesus "showed them the full extent of his love." (Bible quote John 13:1)
By his example, Jesus demonstrated how Christians are to love one another through humble service. For this reason, many churches practice foot-washing or hand washing ceremonies as a part of their Maundy Thursday services, as we do here at St Barts.

5:30pm St Bart's Choral Tenebrae Meditation- The word ‘tenebrae’ is Latin for shadows. The purpose of the service is to recreate the emotional aspects of the passion story, so this is not supposed to be a happy service, because the events leading up to the resurrection is not happy. The service has scripture narratives, which for this service are divided into several, parts, each one assigned to a different reader.
