Easter Services

29th March - Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday 7:30pm  St Bart's Holy Communion- Maundy Thursday is also called Holy Thursday. It is the feast or holy day on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper where Jesus Christ ate with the Apostles. Before the Supper, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples and by performing this lowly act of service, Jesus "showed them the full extent of his love." (Bible quote John 13:1)
By his example, Jesus demonstrated how Christians are to love one another through humble service. For this reason, many churches practice foot-washing or hand washing ceremonies as a part of their Maundy Thursday services, as we do here at St Barts.

Good Friday-30th March
image11:00am Good Friday Project This is a day of activities and crafts, Based around the theme of Easter the and held in the Church Hall. During the days activities, everyone goes outside for a Good Friday procession with a donkey and act of worship.
We have a great time making lots of things! After the event, the artwork is displayed in the Church for everyone to see. This day is extremely popular with previous years having over 80 children.Make sure you book your children in.

5:30pm   St Bart's Choral Tenebrae Meditation-  The word ‘tenebrae’ is Latin for shadows. The purpose of the service is to recreate the emotional aspects of the passion story, so this is not supposed to be a happy service, because the events leading up to the resurrection is not happy. The service has scripture narratives, which for this service are divided into several, parts, each one assigned to a different reader.
A deeply meditative thought provoking service with the brilliant St Bart's Choir to lead us.

Holy Saturday- 31st Marchimage
Meditations ‘Cast your burdens on the Lord’ Within this thoughtful service you will be invited to come forward to the Altar rail where you can leave your burdens or worries at the cross. This is a gentle way to start Holy Saturday, to consider the sacrifice that Jesus made and a way to prepare tor Easter Sunday.
