The lockdown has been strange for all of us. I had learn a whole load of new skills and found myself doing a lot of things I’d never done before, especially with technology! Here are a few things...

• Being part of a streaming service. Before the full lock down we streamed some services from inside the church. It makes you feel like an actor, try doing it along with lighting a fire on the green. All good fun...
• Doing a daily thought for the day at home. It is an odd feeling talking into an iPad. You also have to learn to make sure you look at the camera rather than the screen otherwise your eyes are at the wrong angle... I have to say I was amazed by how popular there these became.
• Putting together services for the Sundays and Saturdays. This involved earning technology called iMovie and being able to superimpose pictures and sound files. I was surprised how easy this was I’ve got the hang of it quite quickly.
• Zoom meetings. Although, these are difficult for choirs because of the time lags, for meetings they went remarkably well.

As I said, this made me learn and use technology in a way that I never thought I would. Having said that, I’ve been thrilled by how successful it has become. Hundreds of people have been watching the thoughts for the day and my service on Easter Sunday morning from the green was watched by over 3000. That’s even more than we get on a Sunday! I really do think we have discovered ways of sharing the good news of Jesus which are very powerful.
