PENN PUPPETS, which is an ecumenical group set up 20 years ago, is going back into Primary Schools, following a two year break caused by the pandemic. We rely on volunteers from all the Churches in Penn, and need to recruit a few more, especially from St Bart’s (!), to join the Team. No previous experience or skill with puppets is needed, just some energy and enthusiasm! If you may be interested, please contact Lesley Cook on 0784-0128-510, or email her at ……lesleyvcook@btinternet.com
A big Thank you to everyone who provided one of the many beautiful flower arrangements at our Flower Festival, and anyone who helped in any way with stewarding, refreshments, plant stalls, open gardens etc. We are also very grateful to everyone who came and supported us last weekend. The event was a wonderfully happy occasion. Thank you all so much. Joy
Flower Festival Refreshments
Thank you to all who helped with serving, providing cakes and the putting up and taking down of tables. It was a fantastic weekend and meeting so many friends that we haven’t seen during the last few months.
Best wishes to you all Anne Edwards and Margaret Mottram
The Friends of St Bart’s and St Anne’s are organising a trip to Bristol Cathedral on Saturday 20th August 2022 to hear our wonderful Choir sing Evensong. The coach will leave St Bart’s at 9.00am and return to Penn after Evensong leaving at approximately 6.30pm.
The cost of the trip is £22 for Friends and £24 for guests. This will leave you time to look around the Cathedral, have some lunch and explore Bristol, which is a very interesting city.
As the numbers for this trip will be limited to 55, it is essential that you book as soon as possible. In the event of a big demand, we will reserve the right to offer the trip to existing Friends in the first instance.
Please contact Anne Edwards on 01902 337478 to obtain a booking form. If I am not available please leave me your name and telephone number and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I am normally in Church at 10.00am Sunday Service and can give you forms then. Please come along and support the work of the Friends of St Bart and St Anne’s.

Opportunities to pray with others
We have several ways that you can join in prayer with others at St Bart’s. All these groups would welcome you to join them and would value your contribution. Here are some ideas:
Daily Morning PrayerThis regular short service (about 20mins) of prayers and bible readings takes place in the Lady Chapel at 9am every day except Sunday. On Wednesday it is a communion service. A lovely way to start the day by focusing on God in the company of others.
Friday Prayers This is a new group meeting in the Lady Chapel 4-5pm on Fridays, starting on 10 June. It will be an opportunity for quiet prayer, for the requests on the prayer board, and other issues known to us, to support the ongoing ministry of the church and the needs of our community. You will not be expected to pray out loud (unless you want to).
WhatsApp Prayer GroupThis group was started during lockdown in 2020. Members share prayer requests which they are aware of, via their mobile phones, and pray in their own time. The group enables immediate prayer in emergencies, and ongoing support for situations of concern. It allows members who may not find it easy to meet in person, to share in the prayer ministry of the church.
In addition, our Life Groups include prayer in their meetings, and share prayer needs in between. If you would like to know more, please speak to Janet Shackleton, or just turn up at one of the times listed.
Parking on Church Hill during Services
Please during services can everyone park nearer together on the hill to minimise the distance that people have to walk to church, especially the elderly and infirm.
Coffee is now being served in the Oak Room after the 10.00am service, please come along and enjoy a chat with your friends.
Friends Historical Evening
Thank you to everyone who came along to the Friends Historical Evening on Friday 24th June. It was very well attended and Rev'd Ben gave a very interesting talk. Several people commented that they had found out information about the Church which they did not know previously. 5 new Friends have joined and we made a profit of £378 on the evening which is wonderful. The money raised all goes to support our wonderful Churches and fantastic choir. Our next event will be the choir tour day trip to Bristol on Saturday 20th August. Details of this will be sent out shortly. Please support the Friends and encourage more people to join. For membership enquiries please contact Anne Edwards on 01902 337478 or leave your details with Sue in the Parish Office and she will pass them on.
Thank you once again for your support.
School leavers: Do you know of any children who have left 6th form and are therefore starting on a new chapter in their lives and would like a prayer shawl to take with them?
New Mum’s: Also are there any new mums who would like a prayer shawl for themselves or does anyone know of a new mum who would like one?
If so please contact the church office 01902 576809 or Saskia on saskia.poller@gmail.com
